HD phones it in from Baltimore, MD, a fitting city for Terrors' lonely damage. Surprisingly, though, sunny Long Beach, CA is the city HD used to call home. But then again, I can see that, too: endless asphalt, a paucity of clouds. I grew up in the suburbs, and it was similarly claustrophobic. Anyway, Terrors channel Dirty Projectors-style elastic vocals through Jandek-ian desolation (without sounding the least bit derivative of either), transmitted through choppy seas of reverb. Is there a lighthouse, hope? No. Yes. Maybe, brief glimpses in the long night.
