Emma Lizzie Downing and Michael Willis phone it in from Baltimore, MD. Lurch & Holler- an apter description there might not be. They describe themselves as "Appalachian parlor operettas and parables. Using careening vocals, piano, and banjo, they bring shiny nuggets of songs, scary and beautiful, like confessionals at the family picnic."

Picture Grace Braun's sterling vocals (yeah, I know she's from Atlanta), Daniel Higgs' modern shamanism, and the kitchen sink lo-fi of the Tinklers (with whom Liz has collaborated), bundled together into woozy and wonderful songs about physics, botany, Greek mythology, and more. Accomplished visual artists as well, they've been haunting Baltimore in numerous incarnations since 1985! Irrepressible and weird (I mean that in the best way, of course), the music of Lurch and Holler might just change the way you see the world around you.
