Marianne Dissard and Connor Gallaher phone it in from Tucson, AZ. Marianne's music is the perfect and beguiling melding of traditional French chanson music and the Southwestern Americana of Calexico (whose Joey Burns produced her last album). I was totally blown away when I heard Marianne's "Merci De Rien Du Tout" on WFMU one day, and was thrilled that she was so into the idea of Phoning It In. Before her aforementioned album, "L'Entredeux," was released, she actually released a version composed entirely of kitchen demos. Right up our alley, right? Totally seductive and wonderful.
